Plumbing continued this week with the completion of the water lines and drainage on the first floor and in the basement. The only thing remaining for the plumber is the completion of the tub and shower in the master bath. He is just waiting on the tub deck and shower bench so that he can set the units in their place.
The electrician got a couple days of work in during the week as well, setting the porch lights, and the majority of the outlet boxes for the house. They also worked over the weekend and began running the wire on the second floor. While they were at it, they also got a few of the recessed lights set on the first floor. We set up a couple levels of staging over the weekend for them to make it easier to set the lights in the great room. This will also help us as we move forward.
The framing crew also got quite a bit done, finishing the final walls in the master bedroom, and also framing out the deck and the porch. By the end of the week, they were able to complete the deck boards on the porch, and it turned out great!
Finally, the fireplace was installed this week as well. We decided to go with a gas fireplace to add to the ambiance, since we figured with the geothermal we would not need the fireplace for heating. They set the fireplace in the box that we framed out, and they ran the exhaust up to the roof line. The exhaust is co-axle, or B Vent, meaning that there are actually 2 vents. One acts as the natural exhaust for the fireplace, and the other pulls in fresh air from the outside for combustion. This makes it a very tight system, and does not allow for the air from within the house to escape.
